Absentee Voting
MAKE SURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD AND YOU VOTE IN THE 2026 PRIMARY ELECTION
Are you going to be out of town during EARLY VOTING days (MAY 14th,15th and 16th) as well as ELECTION DAY on MAY 19th?
Then you are eligible to vote by requesting
an
ABSENTEE BALLOT!
- Absentee Ballot Portal opens on 04/04 and closes 05/05.
- Visit Govote.ky.gov to fill out the absentee ballot request form OR call our office 502-875-8704 to request that one be mailed to you.
- Once you receive the ballot in the mail, fill out your ballot by marking the selected box completely and be sure to sign the inner and outer envelopes before returning the completed absentee ballot to our office.
- You can mail your ballot back to our office (must be postmarked on or before 05/19 and in our office before 6 p.m. on 05/19) or you can drop it in our DROP BOX located in the entrance lobby of the clerk’s office just outside of the elevator. Franklin County Clerk’s office is located at 315 W. Main Street.

General Absentee Information

Opens 04/04 and closes 05/05 at 11:59 P.M.
Ballots for the 2024 General may be returned by mail, or to the secure drop box located inside the Franklin County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours of 8:00 am-4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Ballots must be received in the clerk’s office by Nov 5th at 6:00pm.
DROP BOX for absentee ballots is located at the Clerk’s office (315 W. Main Street)
Kentucky registered voters may vote at the precinct in which they are assigned, on Election Day or, if eligible, may cast an absentee ballot by mail or walk-in at the county clerk’s office prior to Election Day. Kentucky law does not provide for early voting or unexcused absentee voting.
You must fulfill one of the following criteria to be eligible to vote absentee:
- you are a voter who will be out of the county on the day of the election.
- you are a voter whose employment location requires you to be absent from the county all hours and all days on Election Day
- you are military personnel confined to a military base or are overseas on Election Day
- you are a student or resident who temporarily resides outside of the county
- you are voter or spouse of a voter who has surgery scheduled that will require hospitalization on Election Day
- you are unable to go to the polls on Election Day due to age, disability, or illness
- you are a pregnant woman in your third trimester
- you are a precinct officer appointed to serve in a precinct location other than their own
- you are a Deputy County Clerk
- you are a county or state Board of Elections staff
